"It's time to establish a new level of efficiency, accountability and transparency at the Port of Seattle."
The case for reform has become obvious to many people who watch the port closely. However many voters do not pay attention to offices such as the Port Commissioners. With your help, we can change that this year!
Since last year, the Seattle P-I has done an excellent job exposing failures in leadership at the Port of Seattle :
As quoted in an editorial opinion in the P-I:
"Port of Seattle: There are two pieces of good news at the port. Mic Dinsmore, the highest paid port director in the United States, is retiring ... Newly elected Commissioner John Creighton is succeeding Dinsmore ally Patricia Davis as commission president. Creighton, Lloyd Hara and Alec Fisken could soon form a good-management majority on the commission, outvoting Davis and Bob Edwards.
As a recent P-I series disclosed, the Dinsmore era has been characterized by heavy spending, red ink, major tax subsidies, dubious forays away from the port's core missions, cozy relations with vendors, withholding of information from some commissioners and the buyoff of others with taxpayer-financed overseas junkets."
